Mitski

Mitski Miyawaki is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, who has released three albums and music consists of the genres of indie rock, punk rock, folk rock, folk punk and art pop. The photography by Bao Ngo captures the artist's aesthetic by using bold colours as the main focus of the shot, which further makes the shots very professional looking. As well as this the mise-en-scene is well thought out as the costume matches the scenery. In all of these photos the artist as a neutral facial expression which reflects their her songs in the sense of their serious topics. 



Mother Mother

Mother Mother is a Canadian indie rock band based in Quadra Island, British Columbia. In 2005, they independently released their self-titled debut album under the band name 'Mother' and later changed their name to Mother Mother, re-releasing the album on Last Gang Records in 2007. In their band shots, they use typical codes and conventions of band aesthetic and poses as the mise-en-scene is very simple but pleasing as all their costumes match each others by using the same colour. Using a black and white filter to also achieves this, as well as creating the sense of professionalism. 



Conan Gray

Conan gray is an American singer and songwriter, who began uploading vlogs, covers and original videos to Youtube as a teenager before releasing his debut EP in 2018 and later a studio album which debuted at no.5 on the US billboard 200, making it the biggest US new artist debut in 2020. His aesthetic uses a contrast of a professional setting and casual clothes (e.g. jeans and jumper), which shows that he is a young artist. The use of warm lighting indicates that the music he produces are upbeat and fits more into the category of alterative/indie.
